| Honeymooning
in the winter presents a dilema - run for the sun or slide into snow. Half
of the BridalZine staff are snow bunnies and half are sun seekers. We've
put together packages this month that will appeal to our snow bunnies,
we'll make the sun seekers happy in our next issue!
The Chateau
Frontenac
Quebec
City is a foreign destination in
a comfortable setting. All the quaint character of a Parisienne town mingled
with the closeness of Canada. The U.S. dollar makes a Canadian vacation
a real bargain.
You'll
love it's cobblestone streets, the romantic horsedrawn carriages that clip-clop
all around you, the food that will have you running for your exercise bike
as soon as you get home. You can wander dow the Rue Tresor where artists
display their works or dash off a quick likeness of you and your love.
You can shop in the multitude of boutiques or you can just enjoy the ambiance.
You'll want to spend a few days wandering before you start heading for
the slopes and rinks that are just 20 minutes from the center of the city.
We found
a lovely B&B located just minutes from the airport that will make any
couple purr with delight. The
Douceurs Belges offers honeymooners a
room with a large hot tub, a wonderful evening meal and a hearty breakfast
for $150.00/couple per night ($102.00 U.S.)
The
Hôtel Manoir Victoria is a sumptious
oasis in the heart of the old city. Rooms are from $89. - $300. cdn from
Oct. 17th - May 15th ($60. - $204. U.S. /night) If you book your room online,
you'll receive a 10% discount! Skating, skiing and tobogganing is close
at hand the the shopping is magnifique!
The
Manoir Sur-le-cap offers a wonderful condominium
within a hotel. It offers as much privacy as any honeymooning couple could
want and it's inside the walls of old Quebec City so everything is nearby.
November - April this beautiful get-a-way can be yours for $150.00/night
($102.00 U.S.) and gives you a bedroom, living room, kitchen, cozy fireplace
and podium style bath. This 12 room converted manor house also offers less
expensive rooms, most featuring fireplaces.
Hotel
l'Ermitage proves that beauty and economy
can go hand in hand. This lovely small hotel has rooms for $55.00/night
and it's in the heart of the old city.
The Chateau
Frontenac is our top choice for a honeymoon destination. A Quebec city
fixture since 1893, this imposing castle is almost fairy-tale like in it's
beauty. The round turret rooms overlooking the St. Lawrence river are our
favorite (one of our editors spent her honeymoon there) and they afford
a view like no other in the city. We found a see
& ski package for 7 nights accomodation
in the Chateau Frontenac and a 4 day transfer & ski pass, Quebec City-Mont
Sainte Anne. It also included a tour of
the city. The cost is $599.00 U.S. |
