So
much of your wedding will be personal and finding the touches that
make it totally
unique
and "yours" will depend on the little things. There are so many wonderful
ideas that we've heard of lately that have been incorporated into weddings
that we thought we'd search out the best of them and share them with you.
On the sweetest
day of your life, we can't think of a better commemoration than chocolate!
Something Personal
has found a wonderful way of combining quality milk chocolate and a truly
memorable keepsake.
Each bar is wrapped in a personalized
cover combining your colors and message.
We were impressed by the quick
service and the price. ($2.50 canadian per bar with a discount for orders
over 100....these can be shipped anywhere in North America.
One of our
favorite wedding table gifts at the weddings we've attended recently are
the disposable cameras that are placed on each table with instructions
for each guest to snap a few pictures that will show the bride and groom
the things that made the wedding special to you (1 camera per table works
very well). These range in price from $6.95 - $8.95 (more if you want them
imprinted with your names. We thought the Cherub Camera was the best deal
($6.95 for the first 15, $4.95 for each additional camera) and they're
very pretty. You can reach them at 1(800) 572-3585. Boecks
Cameras got our vote for the prettiest, they come in a beautiful box
with a card that tells guests how to use them and they cost between $7.95
and $14.95 each with free shipping in the continental U.S.
Boecks
Classic Collection ($7.95/ea)
One of the
quirkiest touches we've seen are the live butterflies that guests release
outside as the bride and groom leaves the church. The butterflies
are packaged in a lovely triangular package that just needs to be untied.
You can see them at Butterfly
Celebration. (50 butterfly packages cost $200.00)
We loved
the silver charms that one friend attached to her wedding invitations!
We loved the price of them even more. She found the silver claddah charms
that symbolized her irish roots by doing a net search. When we went to
look, we were pleasantly surprised at the price of this precious keepsake
and at the variety of silver charms. Her claddah charms (hands & heart)
were only $5.50 for 10 and we all were so thrilled to receive them ...
mine went right onto my charm bracelet that I've had since I was 12. You
can get 10 silver engagement ring charms for $4.00 (.40 cents each ...
wow and they really are silver) and their selection of heart charms is
wonderful! You can visit Rings
& Things to see for yourself. We've seen plastic rings on
wedding scrolls that cost more than these and we were thinking that they'd
be lovely tied to a net bag of almonds too.
Bubbles
seem to be the latest wedding fad and more merchandisers are finding cool
ways to package the bubbles. If you
look
here, you can see some bubble containers shaped like champagne bottles
or churches. The price is quite reasonable, ranging from $4.95 - $9.99
for 24 favors. You can add some seals with your names on them and personalize
them.
A lovely way to celebrate new
beginnings is with seeds. This can be a simple and inexpensive favor that
will keep your wedding day alive for many years to come. We'd suggest a
butterfly garden assortment or some wildflowers with instructions printed
on one side of a card on quality card stock and created on the computer.
On the other side you can put a message asking people to "Celebrate this
beginning and share our joy by planting these seeds and watching them grow
as our love will grow."
The seeds can be purchased in
bulk and placed in tiny ziplock jewelry bags which can be found at craft
shops. A one hole punch, some ribbon and the card you make completes the
favor. They can then be placed in terra-cotta pots or a small wheel barrow
from a craft shop.
For a fall wedding, you can achieve
the same result with bulbs. Tulip, daffodil, paperwhite.....there are so
many sizes and types of bulb and they are also very reasonable.
We got this suggestion from an
Ontario bride who hoped her special day would be worth as much to her guests
as their attendance was to her. She enclosed a $1.00 lottery ticket in
an envelope printed with this message.
"Our blessings have been doubled
by having you here
Your kindness and love means
so much to us.
You're one in a million! May
our good fortune also be yours"
