Michael
and Melinda
In
April, Michael and I planned a trip to Long Island, New York. We
were to relax in Montauk and visit the Montauk Lighthouse. Michael
soon informed me that our trip would be cut short due to a business conference
he had to attend in San Diego, California. We decided to continue
the vacation and fly from New York to California on April 12, 2000.
Michael suggested we awake early and watch the sunrise at the lighthouse
before we began our travels. Being on the eastern most tip of the
island and watching the sunrise behind Montauk Lighthouse was breathtaking.
We arrived in San Diego shortly after four o’clock. Michael wanted
to first visit Point Loma Lighthouse with me since he would be busy with
his conference the following day. We rented a car and drove straight
to Point Loma. The view at Point Loma Lighthouse was amazing.
We took photos of the lighthouse, watch the boats sail into the San Diego
Harbor and as we walked to a lookout point, I noticed the sun was setting
on the Pacific Ocean. At that moment, Michael got down on his knee
and proposed. He then confessed there was no business conference
to attend. He simply wanted to take me from the sun rising on the
East Coast to the sun setting on the West Coast and ask me to be his wife.
Michael always knew I had a fondness for lighthouses but, I never imagined
he would go to such great distances to incorporate two beautiful
lighthouses (on opposite sides of the country) into our engagement day.

B.J. and Lisa
B.j.
and I have been together for 6 years and everyone was asking us WHEN. On
January 23 1999, we were moving to a new home, and it was my only nieces
1st birthday. B.j. told me before we started to move that we had
to meet a friend of his outside of Orangeville, Ontario. He also
mentioned that we go to "Our Special Spot" wich is this gazebo on a hill
with a pond at the bottom. That day was foggy and rainy but we still made
the journey there. Once we got there, he looked at me and said, "Do you
remember what I said the last time we were here?" (That was 6 years ago).
So I told him yes, and then he got down on bended knee (Despite the wet
floor bottom of the gazebo) and asked me. Our wedding is set
for July 22 2000. He had even gone to my father and asked him if he could
marry me!!
He's the best.

Kristi and
Jerry
My
fiance proposed in a very unique way. He was in a dinner theater,
playing the part of the court jester. Anyone who knows him agrees
that it was the perfect part for him. He was in the classic jester
costume, complete with the curved shoes, and hat with bells on the ends.
He was wearing more make up than I was!! I knew that he would be
performing a magic trick sometime during the show. He pulled me onstage
to be his assistant. The trick involved pulling different colored
rags out of a bag. When he pulled out the last rag, my ring was tied
in the middle. He reached behind him and handed me a dozen roses,
bent down on one knee and asked me to marry him! How could I say
no? We both started crying and I said yes! The audience of
250 applauded, and after the show, some asked if that was part of the show!
We are getting married in 5 days and couldn't be happier!!

Holly and
Stephen
Stephen
my boyfriend at the time and I went shopping for pumpkins a few weeks before
halloween. We each picked out our favorites and planned to carve them closer
to Halloween. On the 29th of October I returned home from work and
found one of the Pumpkins missing. When I questioned Stephen he said my
cat had knocked it off the counter and it had smashed everywhere. Being
the nice guy that he was he cleaned up the mess before I returned from
work. The next evening Stephen told me he was taking me out for a special
dinner and I should wear my favorite dress. When Stephen arrived at my
apartment dressed in his best suit he told me he had a surprise and I needed
to wait in the other room. When he told me to come out the whole room was
dark with the exception of the supposidly missing pumkin, lit up with the
words MARRY ME ? carved on it. When I saw it I immediately responded yes!
at that point Stephen got down on one knee and presented me with a diamond
engagement ring!!! Halloween will always have a special place in our hearts
and we are getting married in March of 2001. By the way Stephen had broken
his right hand the week before the proposal playing baseball but he had
had the event planned for so long that he said he had to follow through
with his pumkin plan so he carved the whole thing with his left hand (he
is right handed).

Shauna and
Gianni
My
fiance Gianni in I met when we were both working as interns at Walt Disney
World's EPCOT. I went for a dinner in the Italian restaurant where
he was working--he wasn't exactly on the menu but I guess that I got him.
After I finished college we decided to spend six months with his mom and
siblings in Italy. Since we met in the "fake" Italy in EPCOT we thought
that we'd spend some time in the real place. On our return back from
Italy he proposed to me five hours into our flight back to Boston.
He had the flight attendants bring me out a tray with two glasses of champagne,
a bouquet of flower and of course the ring! The crew on the airline went
an extra mile to make our moment even more special. We got a grand
applause from everyone on the plane and "Congrats" in many languages--that
was one international flight that I would have loved to have lastest forever.

Julie and
Brent
Brent
is truely the most thoughtful person I know. I had a friend visiting
from Germany and I needed to study for and take an exam while she was here
(on a Saturday). Brent took her to his parents house and while I
was taking the exam on Saturday he spent the entire day working on his
proposal. On Sunday we, as I was told, were to go on a plane
ride to "warm up the plane" -- we were getting this opportunity because
his dad's boss knew that my friend from Germany was in town. Brent
hates to fly so I just figured that the reason his face was all red and
he was really quiet was because he was scared. After the second time
of flying over his parents house I finally looked at the ground and saw
written in blue and purple letters "JULIE MARRY ME!" I was
so not expecting it that I turned to him and was about to say "did you
see that someone has written on the ground?" But before I could get
the words out he asked me in the most sweetest way to marry him.
I found out later that the words were 20 feet tall and almost 300 feet
long; they were plastic table clothe pieces held down with over 500
twigs poked into the ground. And what makes it even more impressive
is that it had snowed the night before so he had to sweep all of the letters
off before we went to church!
