Know Your Wedding Flowers!

THE PREMIUM ROSE ~ Queen of all wedding flowers.  Graded premium because of the "head" size and it's superior quality, these blooms must be open on the day of the ceremony.  Most popular in the "Rose Ball" bouquet, these beauties come in a myriad of colors and styles.
THE CLASSIC ROSE ~ Truly the "work horse" of wedding flowers.  Your florist will ensure that these are in full bloom on the day of your wedding.  With so many colors and styles choosing is usually the only problem they present.
THE ORCHID ~ Most expensive of all wedding flowers, the orchid is best used as the "focal" flowers of your bouquet.  Available in whites, creams and purple hues, the orchid looks best surrounded by greens.
THE GARDENIA ~ A close second to the rose, gardenias are a staple of many bridal bouquets.  With a gorgeous scent and huge white blooms this flower lends itself well to large cascade style bouquets.
THE CALLA LILY ~ With its elegant lines and drama, the calla lily can be a true show stopper.  One of the few flowers presented with stem intact, the calla looks stunning as a grouping simply wrapped with a ribbon.
ALSTROEMERIA ~ More and more brides are finding that this "pseudo orchid" is one of the most economical options for filling out a bridal bouquet.  With at least 3 blooms per stem, alstro can really help keep costs down.
THE CARNATION ~ The backbone of many a bouquet, this favorite is first choice as a "filler" flower.  With unlimited colors and durability, the carnation is a true budget stretcher.  The "mini" variety also makes it versatile.
THE CHRYSANTHEMUM ~ Loved throughout the ages this grand old girl has many applications.  Occasionally carried as a "single" stem this flower remains popular.
THE ASTER ~ Often used as a contrasting color to the primary flowers, asters lend themselves well to filling out a bouquet.
LILIES OF THE VALLEY ~ Delicate and sweet smelling, lilies of the valley are often used as an adornment to veils and bridal hair styles. With the cascading quality of its blooms, this flower is perfect for framing the face of any bride.
THE POMPONS ~ Engulfing a family of flowers that include variations of carns and mums, this colorful and economical variety work in filling out table arrangements.
GYPSOPHILA (BABY'S BREATH) ~ A classic for generations, whether used as a bouquet accent or as a "halo" for the hair, baby's breath always has a place at weddings.  A true bargain at the florist, a few stems of gyp go a long way.
THE TULIP ~ A seasonal favorite, a white spray of tulips is becoming a trend for spring brides.  Formatted somewhat more loosely than the "rose ball", the tulip lends itself well to this style of display.
LIMONIUM AND STATICE ~ Often used as a colorful alternative to baby's breath, these gems are also hardy and economical.
FLORIST GREENS ~ An important addition to your bouquet and table decorations, Plumosa Fern and Leather Leaf are the most popular greens.  Broad leafed Salal is also an option.
